What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the therapeutic
use of essential oils to relieve nervous stress, depression and
anxiety and enhance well being to promote health and vitality.
Essential oils are highly fragrant, volatile fluids that occur
naturally in plants. They can be distilled, expressed, or
solvent extracted from flowers, leaves, seeds, roots, fruits and
woods depending on the plant. Each essential oil has a
distinct physiological and psychological property. The
combination of the benefits of a mix of essential oils and
therapeutic massage results in a pleasurable but effective method of
healing. Only the highest quality of therapist grade oils are
used. Regular treatments can help improve sleep patterns and
energy levels, strengthen the immune system and assist in
maintaining a state of balance and health.
What is
Reflexology?
This ancient art has been
known to man for hundreds of years and it appears that it was
first practised by the early Indians, Chinese and Egyptians, who
discovered that congestion or tension in any part of the body
(or hand) mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part
of the body
Today, Reflexology is a practised
complementary therapy that treats the whole of body through the
stimulation of certain reflex points usually located on the feet,
although occasionally on the hands. Reflexologists, through
this seemingly pleasurable foot massage and compression technique,
are able to help the body heal itself by correcting imbalances that
can occur through illness, accident, disease or even lifestyle, by
restoring critical energy (meridians) pathways that flow through the
body, overcoming years of neglect and abuse.
It is a safe and natural
therapy that can be used on anybody including, the infirm,
elderly and even babies. It has proven benefit in
pregnancy to aid conception, assisting in overdue pregnancy,
along with many other disorders.
Reflexology can
bring relief to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
such as digestive disorders (constipation, IBS etc), headaches,
hormonal imbalances (PMS and the menopausal symptoms), asthma
and sinus congestion, as well as assisting with pain relief.
